If you are searching for baby shower restaurants in Los Angeles, the honest answer is that a restaurant works well for a small, simple lunch, but once your guest list grows past a table or two, a private venue usually gives you more room, more privacy and fewer surprises. Below we walk through what to ask a restaurant, what a private space can cost, and where our own manor fits for showers of up to 100 guests.
What a restaurant baby shower does well
A restaurant takes a lot of work off your plate. The kitchen is already running, the tables are already set, and nobody has to carry a single folding chair. For a shower of ten to twenty close friends and family, that convenience is hard to beat, and it is a good choice when the mother-to-be would rather relax than host.
There is also the simple pleasure of being out in the city. Los Angeles has no shortage of dining rooms with patios, garden courtyards and brunch menus that suit a daytime celebration. If your group is small and everyone lives nearby, choosing a place you already love can make the day feel effortless.
Questions to ask before you book a restaurant
The trouble with restaurants usually shows up in the details, so ask these questions before you put down a deposit:
- Is the space truly private? A semi-private corner of a busy dining room is not the same as a closed room. Ask whether other diners will be within earshot, and whether your group will be seated near the kitchen or the restrooms.
- Is there a minimum spend? Many restaurants set a food and beverage minimum for group bookings. Ask for the figure in writing and find out whether tax, service charge and gratuity are on top.
- Can you bring decorations, a cake or favors? Some places limit what you can set up, and some charge a cake-cutting fee. Ask about balloons, banners and gift tables before the day.
- How long do you have the table? A shower with games, gift opening and photographs often needs more than a standard seating window.
- Is there room for gifts? A pile of presents needs a table of its own, and the mother-to-be needs space to open them where everyone can see.
- What is the menu setup? Fixed menus are easier to budget but harder for guests with dietary needs. Ask how the kitchen handles allergies for a group.
Where restaurants start to pinch
Shower guest lists tend to grow. A first list of twenty becomes thirty-five once grandparents, cousins and coworkers are added, and that is the point where many restaurants stop being comfortable. Tables crowd together, conversation gets hard to follow over the room noise, and the games that make a shower memorable simply do not fit.
Parking is the other quiet challenge. In busy parts of Los Angeles, guests circle blocks looking for a space and arrive stressed, which is not the mood you want for a celebration. Expecting mothers and older relatives feel this most.
Finally, there is the clock. A restaurant has its own rhythm, and your event has to fit inside it. A private venue lets the party set the pace instead.

What a private venue gives you
A private venue flips the arrangement. The space is yours for the whole booking, so you can decorate as freely as you like, arrange the seating the way you want, and run games, toasts and gift opening without anyone waiting for a table. You also choose the food, which means you can match the menu to your guests rather than to a fixed list.
The trade-off is that you are the host. You will need a caterer, a plan for rentals, and a little more coordination. That is manageable with the right venue, and many hosts find the result feels far more personal than a restaurant booking.
How our manor handles baby showers
The Enchanted Manor sits at 5235 Goodland Avenue in Valley Village, on a quiet cul-de-sac with the LA River behind the house. Georgia Durante has spent 25 years turning her home into the manor, and she lives on the property, so the grounds are tended and welcoming. We host baby showers, baptisms, birthdays and children's parties, along with engagement parties, anniversaries, reunions and memorials.
Our grounds cover more than 18,000 square feet. There is a saltwater grotto pool with three waterfalls, a thatched gazebo bar, a lava-rock fire pit, a private patio with an outdoor fireplace and plush couches, and fairy lights strung through the trees. For a daytime shower, the courtyard and patio areas make easy spots for a buffet, a gift table and a lounge area where guests can settle in.

Children are well looked after, too. We have a children's playhouse, a miniature version of the main house with two twin beds, a fireplace and cable TV. Children's parties can include clowns, storytime, magicians or face painting on request, so a family shower with little ones in attendance does not have to be a quiet affair.
What it costs
Our event pricing is straightforward, and these figures reflect our new pricing from October 2026:
- Up to 50 guests: $4,200
- 50 to 75 guests: $5,400
- 75 to 100 guests: $6,600
- Ceremony-only bookings: from $1,500
Each booking includes 5 hours of event time plus 2 hours of setup. Extra hours are $300 each, and every event must end by 10pm. You bring your own caterer and your own beverages, so there are no costly venue food and beverage packages to work around. Georgia is happy to recommend caterers, though you hire your own.
Some extras are billed separately: cleaning is $300, there is a refundable $250 security deposit, tables are $8 each, tablecloths $10 each, battery lanterns or candles $2, heaters $75 each, a microphone rental $25 and a cooler $20. Chairs come from an outside rental vendor, and Georgia shares contacts, including Marina at (818) 454-6831. One-day event insurance is required, naming Georgia Durante and The Enchanted Manor, and it averages $66 to $124.
For a shower of 30 guests, for example, the venue fee would be $4,200 before catering and rentals. Compared with a restaurant minimum, that is not a small number, so it makes the most sense when you want the space, the privacy and the freedom to run the day your way.
Practical details for your guests
Parking is easy by Los Angeles standards: the cul-de-sac fits 12 to 15 cars, with open street parking nearby. For larger showers we recommend Uber or Lyft, since valet does not work well here. The manor is minutes from the 101 and 405 and is easy to reach from both Burbank and LAX airports, which helps if guests are flying in. Out-of-town guests can book a special rate at The Mariposa hotel, one block away.
We have a house sound system and a wireless microphone, which is perfect for a toast or a game. We do not allow DJs, so plan a playlist rather than live mixing. If you are comparing options, our guides to the best baby shower venues in Los Angeles and baby shower locations cover the wider picture, and our post on restaurants versus a private venue for bridal showers raises many of the same trade-offs.

Choosing between the two
A simple way to decide: if your guest list is under about twenty, the date is flexible and you want zero logistics, a restaurant is probably the better fit. If you expect thirty or more, want to decorate, need room for gifts and games, or simply want the whole afternoon to yourselves, a private venue is worth the extra planning.
Many hosts find the right answer lies in the guest list. Write the full list first, then price both options for that number.
